SUPPORT AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION FOR THOSE IN NEED
RATS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that fulfills the transportation needs of any Rockbridge county resident, in particular those unable to transport themselves.
While a large percentage of RATS clients are Medicaid passengers, Medicaid does not reimburse RATS for the full cost of each trip. For non-Medicaid clients, fares are based on ability to pay. Thus, RATS loses money on nearly every trip provided and must rely on other sources of revenue to remain a viable organization.
RATS has been fortunate to receive financial support from our local governing agencies and United Way, and through grants from national governmental organizations, hospitals, colleges and universities, and community service clubs. However, as important as these other sources of revenue are, we still rely heavily on contributions from individuals. RATS exists because of the caring people who support it, and who contribute to a community where transportation is available regardless of ability to pay.
We graciously receive grants from the following organizations:
Department of Rail and Public Transportation
Washington & Lee Community Foundation
Stonewall Jackson Foundation
Your financial support is vital to continue RATS service and to meet the transportation needs of those less fortunate than ourselves. Donations can be made in the form of cash, credit card, and check. We also accept vehicle donations and donations on Amazon Smile.
Please consider a tax deductible donation to RATS today. Call our office for more information.
